Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

What our previous clients have asked

How long do I have to wait before I use my driveway?
Well if no concrete is needed then you can start using your new block paved driveway straight away. If concrete is needed (most cases) then we typically say as soon as the concrete sets which is usually 36-72 hours. However, foot traffic is fine after 2-3 hours. It will be worth the wait!

Can block paving be laid in the winter?
Yes, yes it can. Block paving can be laid all year round. However, if you choose to have your driveway block paved through the winter in can sometimes take us a little longer depending on the weather conditions.

Do I need to get planning permission to have my drive block paved/tarmacked?
Normally you don't need to get planning permission to have a block paved driveway installed. However, in some cases if public drainage is running through your property you may need to contact the council so they can assess the possible drainage options that may be available.

How long will my block paved or tarmac driveway last?
Typically if the driveway is maintained correctly it will last a lifetime.

Should I seal my paving?
Sealing your driveway is always recommended but  is not always necessary. By sealing the paving it prevents staining from spillages such as oil or rubber from car tyres. It also makes it easier to remove stains your driveway if it is properly sealed. Sealing will also combat weed growth and enhance colour of the pavers to keep that brand new driveway look.

How long will it take to complete my driveway?
Every job is different therefore it is difficult to give an exact timescale but on average it should take between 5-7 days to complete.
